The RefurbishmentAll items removed before the refurbishment got underway were either re-used where possible, offered on a local recycling website ‘Freecycle’ or given away on site.
We ‘upcycled’ furniture and fittings where suitable.
Insulation used everywhere in the walls, on the walls, on the ceiling, under the floor and around pipework enabling our beach hut to be used all year round.
Sheep’s wool cavity insulation was used in the walls where ever possible.
We installed double glazing throughout, underfloor heating, low energy and LED lighting and all appliances are A or A* rated. The toilet is a ‘dual flush’ cistern.
The only trades used (plumbing, electric and window fitters) were all local from Minehead
The TV installed is low energy LED
British made natural mattress with British fleece wool.
Pre-set thermostatically controlled heating which does not come on overnight.
Good quality bedding so heating not required.
Water bottle in fridge to save running the tap to get cold water.
Drought tolerant planting.
