For 2017 we will also be supporting the RNLI. This is a cause we feel we have a link to, living and working so close to the coast, but we are also indebted to them as well. In 2004 our old dog Sam fell of a 60ft cliff onto the beach below, we got cut off by the tide rescuing him and had to be rescued ourselves. You can read the full story by clicking on the 'Sam's RNLI Rescue' button.
In 2017 we will be providing all dogs staying at Salad Days with a temporary "I'm on Holiday" tag. Then, should they get lost or stray whilst on their holidays at Dunster Beach we should be able to help re-unite them with their owners as soon as possible.
Maverick has kindly volunteered to be your Doggy Guide. During the year he will explore West Somerset, North Devon and Exmoor, taking in local attractions, beaches and countryside, cafes, pubs and tea rooms, he will review them for you and your human companions, do they get Maverick's bark of approval? Follow Maverick's paw scoring system for the best places to walk, drink and play.
To help you when it comes to cleaning those muddy paws we have added a tethering point, you can now attach your dogs lead next to the bucket, watering can and dog towel in the front garden.
As Dunster Beach requests that your dog is on a lead when walking around the site we now also provide extendable leads to allow your dog a little more freedom whilst still being fully under control. Don't forget, that once below the tide line on the beach your dog can run freely off the lead.
New for our Guests
Lets hope it's a hot 2017 We have purchased a picnic set for our guests to use. We also provide a thermal rucksack so you can keep your food chilled and a picnic blanket and flask.
We have now purchased some beach clean cotton bags and a litter picker. These are always one in the outside storage box, so if you are down at the beach, why not join us and do a #2minutebeachclean, remember you can use the recycling centre on site and post your photos to Twitter or Facebook
At Salad Days we always try to use local and individual Somerset products, so this year we will be introducing 'Mo's Marmalade' to our welcome basket. It's homemade marmalade from our village of Holford where we live. We hope you enjoy
We will now be getting our freerange eggs for the welcome basket from Lower Marsh Farm Dunster (which you can see from Dunster Beach) when available. They also supply 'raw' (unpasterised) milk if you fancy trying something different.
